Father ‘gifts’ daughter to his friends, joins them in gangraping her

A man allegedly ‘gifted’ his 35 year old daughter to his friends and later joined them in gang-raping her. The shocking incident which could disturb minds has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district. While one of the accused has been nabbed by the police, three others including the rape survivor’s father are absconding.

According to a report in The Times Of India, Sitapur police said that the accused father who is in his late 50s and his daughter were out for attending a fair on April 15 evening. After attending the fair, the accused called his friend Maan Singh, a history-sheeter to their place. The two then convinced the woman to ride with them on a two-wheeler to the house of their another friend, Meraj. The woman agreed and all the three reached Meraj’s house where she was gang-raped. The woman’s father also joined his friends in raping her.

The woman was kept confined at Meraj’s house for over 18 hours. After escaping from the house, the rape survivor then reached her home and narrated her ordeal to her mother. Subsequently the FIR was registered the same day. Police managed to nab Meraj and are making attempts to arrest the other two accused.

Sitapur SP Sureshrao A Kulkarni was quoted by TOI as saying that the woman had got married 16 years ago but had returned to her maternal house within two years of marriage. This had happened following her tiff with her husband.
