Ujjain: Putting duty before self, a Madhya Pradesh policeman walked around 550 km over a period of 16 days to return to his place of posting in Ujjain district.

Head Constable Ramesh Singh Tomar, posted at the Neelganga police station, had gone to Gawalior in March for some work related to a viscera test in a case. In the meantime, the nationwide lockdown was announced.

Tomar initially stayed at his daughter’s house in Gawalior, but later shifted to Morena.

When he could not find any transport to return to Ujjain, he started off from Morena on April 2 and reached his police station on Friday evening after covering around 550 km on foot.

Superintendent of Police Dr Rajnish Kashyap and SHO Kulwant Joshi were present at the police station to welcome him. Tomar later underwent a medical checkup to ensure he was doing fine.
