New Delhi : The BJP on Saturday termed the BSP-SP alliance a desperate effort for survival against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a press conference here on the second day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Council, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said: “The Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party alliance is for their survival. It is not in the interest of the country or Uttar Pradesh.”
Prasad said that the parties know that they cannot fight Modi and so have formed the alliance.
The Minister’s remarks came soon after BSP supremo Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, at a joint presser in Lucknow, announced the alliance saying they will contest the coming Lok Sabha polls together in Uttar Pradesh sharing 38 seats each of the 80 in the state, while leaving Rae Bareli and Amethi for the Congress, which has been kept out of the alliance.
Reiterating BJP President Amit Shah’s claim, Prasad said that the party will win 74 seats in the upcoming polls in Uttar Pradesh.
Accusing the Congress of playing with national security, Prasad described the 2019 elections as the election for stability versus instability.
He said the country has to decide whether they need a weak prime minister or a strong one.
