BJP MP Pragya Thakur apologises for Godse remark

BJP MP Pragya Thakur on Friday tendered apology in Lok Sabha for her comments calling Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a ‘patriot’.

“If I have hurt anyone with my comments, I regret and tender my apology”, she said without taking Godse’s name.




Thakur tendered an apology following a huge controversy over her comment on Godse in Parliament on Wednesday. Later, her remark was expunged by the Speaker.

Thakur, an MP from Bhopal was criticised for referring Godse as a patriot. She said that her remark had been distorted.

“I respect Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to the nation”, she said in the Lok Sabha.
