Sitapur: Hours after Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan, his wife Tanzeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam were shifted to Sitapur jail from Rampur, party President Akhilesh Yadav arrived at the Sitapur jail to meet them.

Earlier in the day, Akhilesh had said that he would go to Rampur to meet Azam Khan but when the latter was shifted to Sitapur district jail, the SP chief went to meet him there.

Akhilesh Yadav, after meeting the Khan family, said: “This is an act of vendetta. The kind of cases imposed on Azam Khan say it all. The state government and the ruling BJP are targeting Azam Khan and his family through false cases. This is a political conspiracy.”

Earlier, while he was being taken inside the jail, Azam Khan told reporters, “Everyone knows what is happening.”

When asked if he felt that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was responsible for his ‘victimization’, the SP MP retorted, “Are there two chief ministers?”
