Delhi police on Sunday evening pevented Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers from marching towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg in central Delhi.

AAP leaders and workers had decided to march upto PM’s residence from Mandi House for which they had given a call a few days ago. But they were stopped from moving further at Parliament Street.

They were held back with the help of the barricades. AAP workers held placards in their hands which read messages such as ‘PM sir grant Delhi full statehood’. They shouted slogans against Delhi Lt. Governor (LG) Anil Baijal.

The march is being taken out by AAP workers to protest against Delhi LG demanding that he ensures IAS officers end their strike. They are also demanding for full statehood to Delhi.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai are staging a sit-in protest at Anil Baijal’s residence since June 11, with their demand for getting strike of IAS officers called off.
