Maoists set off 6 IED blasts in Chhattisgarh, one BSF officer martyred

A BSF sub-inspector got martyred when Maoists reportedly triggered six IED blasts in a series in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday. The BSF personnel was airlifted to Raipur and rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. Maoists conducted the attack a day before polling for first phase in Chhattisgarh on Monday.
According to news agency ANI, BSF sub-inspector Mahender Singh who was injured in IED blast in Kanker’s Koyali beda today, has succumbed to injuries.

Earlier, ANI quoted DIG, Anti-Naxals Operations in Raipur, P Sundarraj as saying that BSF personnel Mahinder Singh was injured in IED blast in Kanker’s Koyali beda. He also said that security forces are conducting search operations in the area.

The agency also reported that a set of 6 IEDs were planted in a series and were set off in one go between village Gome and Gattakal in Koliya beda in Chhattisgarh.
The blast was triggered when a team of BSF was on routine area domination in Koliya beda area.
In another incident, one Maoist was killed in an encounter in Bijapur between security and Maoists. Arms and ammunition were also recovered.
