Minor girl allegedly gang-raped in ICU of private hospital in Bareilly

In a shocking incident, a minor girl admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital was allegedly gang-raped by five men including a hospital staffer, reported news agency ANI. The incident took place in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. All the accused are on run.
News agency ANI quoted Superintendent of Police (City), Abhinandan Singh as saying, “The victim narrated her ordeal after she was shifted to the general ward of the hospital. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.”
The FIR has been lodged under various sections of IPC and also POCSO Act has been slapped against the accused as the victim is a minor.
Singh was further quoted as saying that the police had immediately reached the spot after coming to know about the incident and had lodged an FIR.
According to the police complaint lodged by the girl’s father, the incident took place on Wednesday night, a day after she was admitted in the hospital.
Hindustan Times quoted SP (city) as saying that as the bed in the ICU had long curtains around it, this apparently blocked the view of the other staffers there.
The girl, according to the police had been admitted to the hospital after she was bitten by a snake. Initially she was admitted in the ICU of the hospital and later, she was shifted to the general ward where she revealed her harrowing experience.
The police have sent the girl’s dress which she was wearing at the time of the incident for forensic tests.
