Delhi police suspends ASI whose son violently thrashed girl in viral video
The Delhi police on Monday suspended an assistant sub-inspector whose son Rohit Tomar was seen brutally thrashing a girl in a video which went viral on social media.
Ashok Kumar Tomar, was suspended for allegedly threatening the woman’s family, the police said. Ashok was posted in Central Delhi.
Rohit was arrested on Friday (last week) after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had instructed the Delhi Police chief Amulya Patnaik to initiate necessary action into the matter.
He was arrested after cases of rape and assault were filed against him by two women. The accused was booked for rape, voluntarily causing hurt and assault on woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
Others arrested in the case are Ali Hasan, the owner of the call centre where the incident happened and Rajesh, the peon who worked there and had allegedly shot the video.
A video showing a girl being violently beaten up by Rohit Tomar in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar had gone viral on the social media which had ignited public anger. Rohit was witnessed slapping, punching and kicking the girl in her private parts.
