Noida police on Sunday arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife after she reportedly turned down his desire of engaging in sexual activity with him. The woman had said ‘no’ to her husband as mouth cancer had left him with a hole in his cheek. The crime took place in Chhijarsi village of Noida at the house of the victim’s brother.

Ajay alias Mahesh was arrested for alleged murder of his wife Mamta, 36. He used to work as a barber. Ajay was absconding since July 11 after allegedly commiting the crime. The two were married for last 17 years and have two children aged 16 and 8 years. They hailed from Lalitpur in UP and Mamta had moved to Noida 20 days ago to live with her brother in order to find a job.

Hindustan Times quoted sub-inspector Sanat Kumar Mishra, incharge of Chhijarsi police outpost, Noida Phase 3 as saying that Ajay had been absconding since July 11 after wife’s murder.

“During the interrogation, Ajay told us that his wife refused to have sex with him due to his medical condition which resulted into a fight between the two and Ajay used a sharp knife to slit her throat. The murder was discovered by the victim’s brother Rahul Kumar who was present at the house when the incident occured”, Mishra told the daily.

Mishra said that Ajay had arrived at his brother-in-law’s house unannounced on Tuesday night where he killed his wife during early morning hours on Wednesday after she rejected his advances. He also said that Ajay suspected his wife as according to him she had not been physically initimate with him for past several months.

Police said that Ajay has been sent to jail after being presented before a magistrate. A case under section 302 of IPC has been lodged against Ajay.
