Mumbai flooded due to pre-monsoon showers, Navy to step in if required

The Financial capital of India – Mumbai got drenched after pre-monsoon rains lashed here on Thursday. The city got flooded with posed a serious question mark over its preparedness for the monsoon season. The monsoon is set to arrive in Mumbai on Friday and heavy rainfall has been predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) department over the weekend.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that it has cancelled the leaves of its senior officials over the weekend.

Further, the BMC has asked for three teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to be stationed at Parel, Mankhurd (for the eastern suburbs) and Andheri Sports Complex (for the western suburbs).

BMC has also sought help from Navy who would be deployed in Worli, Ghatkopar, Malad, Colaba for rescue if required.
