UP STF Eliminates ₹1.25 Lakh Bounty Criminal Lallan, Accused of Killing Two Sub-Inspectors and a Bank Cashier
SAHARANPUR: In a major breakthrough late Sunday night, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force neutralized a notorious criminal, Lalan Singh alias Lallan, who carried a combined bounty of ₹1.25 lakh on his head. The fierce gun battle broke out on the Sarsawa-Nakur road in Saharanpur district after the police intercepted the suspect. The STF team opened fire in self-defense after the criminal initiated the shootout, leaving Lallan critically injured. He was initially rushed to the Community Health Centre in Sarsawa and later shifted to the Saharanpur District Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Taking advantage of the dark, one of his accomplices managed to flee the spot, and a massive manhunt has been launched to track him down.
Lalan Singh, a resident of Anandgolwa village in Bihar’s Samastipur district, was a desperate outlaw wanted in numerous high-profile cases across multiple states. He and his gang were implicated in the brutal murders of seven individuals, including two Sub-Inspectors, a bank cashier, and a security guard. His criminal syndicate specialized in daring bank dacoities, cash van heists, and looting government weaponry. Notably, on November 8, 2022, Lallan shot a Sub-Inspector in Varanasi and fled with his service pistol, just a week after executing a major robbery and shootout in Chandauli on November 1, 2022.
Due to his reign of terror, a joint reward had been placed for his capture. The Police Commissioner of Varanasi had announced a bounty of ₹1 lakh, while the Superintendent of Police of Chandauli had placed an additional reward of ₹25,000 on his head. The UP STF stated that the elimination of Lallan marks the end of a highly dangerous inter-state gang that had been a persistent threat to public safety and law enforcement alike.
