UP Government Promotes 5 IAS Officers to Additional Chief Secretary Rank

Lucknow | The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday took a major decision to strengthen the administrative structure by promoting five senior IAS officers of the Principal Secretary rank to the post of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). In addition, three IAS officers currently on central deputation have been promoted to the rank of Principal Secretary.

According to the order issued by the Department of Appointments, the officers promoted from Principal Secretary to Additional Chief Secretary include IAS officers Sanjay Prasad, Ashish Kumar Goyal, Amrit Abhijat, R. Ramesh Kumar and Mukesh Kumar Meshram. These promotions have been made under the Apex Scale (Level-17), which is the highest administrative level in the state IAS cadre.

IAS officer Sanjay Prasad is currently serving as Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office and is considered one of the Chief Minister’s most trusted officers. He handles key departments such as Home and Information, and also holds the charge of Civil Aviation. His role is seen as crucial in policy coordination and strategic decision-making.

IAS officer Ashish Kumar Goyal is known for his strong administrative grip in state governance. He is presently posted as the Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited, and his work in the power sector is closely linked to the government’s key reform initiatives.

IAS officer Amrit Abhijat has played an important role in departments such as Tourism and Culture in recent years. During his tenure, special emphasis was placed on heritage conservation and tourism development, helping strengthen the state’s image at the national level.

IAS officer R. Ramesh Kumar has contributed significantly to administrative reforms and policy implementation across various departments, while IAS officer Mukesh Kumar Meshram has effectively implemented policy changes on the ground during his postings in departments such as Tourism and Animal Husbandry.

Meanwhile, three IAS officers on central deputation — Bhuvnesh Kumar, Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan and Santosh Kumar Yadav — have been promoted to the rank of Principal Secretary. It is believed that these promotions will help the government make better use of administrative experience and accelerate policy decisions and implementation of development programmes.
