Auli trip turns tragic: Students’ Scorpio overturns in Chamoli, vehicle completely wrecked

Chamoli | A road accident occurred early Saturday morning in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. Here a Scorpio vehicle carrying students lost control and overturned. The accident took place near the Animath–Helang stretch. Fortunately, all the students escaped safely.

According to Chamoli police, the incident took place around 5:45 a.m. Students were returning from Auli when Scorpio went out of control and overturned on the roadside. The vehicle, bearing registration number UK 08 AK 0468, was carrying six students, all residents of Manduwala in Dehradun.

While the driver sustained minor injuries, the other passengers remained unharmed. As soon as the police received information about the mishap, teams from the police, 108 ambulance service and the Army rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. The injured were given necessary first aid at the site.

Police officials said arrangements are being made to safely send all the students to their destination using an alternative vehicle.

The students travelling in the vehicle were identified as Sagar (20), Gaurav (19), Shashank Bhatt (19), Abhishek Kesarwani (19), Shivam (19) and Daksh (19). All of them are BBA students at Devbhumi Institute in Dehradun and had come to Auli on a trip.

Earlier, on December 4, a major accident was reported on the Takula Highway in Almora, where a car fell into a gorge near Daanth Gadhera. The injured person was rescued the following day by police and SDRF teams.
