Delhi Horror: Pitbull tears off ear of 6-year-old boy playing outside home; owner held
A six-year-old boy was severely injured after being attacked by a Pitbull in Delhi’s Prem Nagar area on Sunday evening, triggering fresh concern over the safety of aggressive dog breeds in residential neighbourhoods.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m., when the child was playing outside his home in Vinay Enclave. A Pitbull, kept as a pet by a neighbour, suddenly ran out of the house and pounced on the boy. The dog reportedly bit the child multiple times and tore off his right ear.
Local residents and the child’s parents rushed to rescue him from the dog’s grip and immediately took him to BSA Hospital in Rohini. He was later referred to Safdarjung Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
A disturbing CCTV video of the attack has gone viral on social media, showing the Pitbull charging at the child, knocking him down and biting him repeatedly, while a woman tries unsuccessfully to stop the dog.
Police have arrested the dog owner, 50-year-old Rajesh Pal, a tailor by profession. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Pitbull was brought home about 18 months ago by Rajesh’s son, Sachin Pal, who is currently in jail in an attempted murder case.
The police have recorded the statement of the boy’s father and initiated further legal action.
