The Cable bridge on the Machhu river collapsed in Gujarat’s Morbi on Sunday evening, leading to death of 132 people. The Gujarat police have lodged an FIR into the mishap.
The accident happened when about 400 people were standing on the suspension bridge. There was a lot of activity on the bridge. While some were taking selfies, others were chit-chatting. Suddenly the bridge collapsed and people fell into the river.
Lucky were those who knew how to swim. They swam to the shore but those who did not know how to swim, became victims of the incident.
Among the dead are women and children.
Horrifying to see 141 innocents die in collapse of #Morbi bridge in Gujrat.Even more unfortunate that no one has taken responsibility or any one held accountable & that too in PM Modi’s state! We don’t want this decayed Gujrat model at all! pic.twitter.com/2OOAk4XScs
