Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has managed to locate ‘Vikram’ lander, on lunar surface. However, communication with the lander could not be established. Efforts are going on to establish contact with ‘Vikram’.

News agency ANI quoted ISRO Chief, Dr K. Sivan as saying, “We have found location of Vikram Lander on lunar surface and orbiter has clicked a thermal image of Lander. But there is no communication yet. We are trying to have contact. It will be communicated soon.”

Early on Saturday, communications between the Vikram lander and the orbiter got snapped when the former was only 2.1 km away from its designated landing spot on the moon’s South Pole, leading to suspense over the fate of the Rs 978 crore mission.

Announcing loss of the communication link early on Saturday, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman K. Sivan had said that the performance of the ‘Vikram’ lander was as per the plan till it was at an altitude of 2.1 km from the moon surface. The communication link got snapped after that.
