Temperatures up in Himachal; rain, snow in line
Shimla : The hills of Himachal Pradesh on Friday saw a rise in the temperatures due to long sunny days, but the Met Office here forecast chances of rain and more snowfall next week.
“There are chances of more rainfall and snowfall in the state on February 5 and 6,” an official at the Meteorological Office told IANS.
He said the western disturbances – storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region – would be active again in the region.
Most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri and Manali, located in mid-hills, may witness mild to moderate snowfall.
While lower areas in the state like Dharamsala, Hamirpur, Solan, Nahan and Mandi towns may see widespread rains, which will bring the temperature down considerably.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 5.9 degrees Celsius.
Shimla recorded the minimum temperature at 6.1 degrees, whereas the maximum was 17.1 degrees.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of minus 1.6 degrees, while it was 0.2 degrees in Manali, 2.5 degrees in Kufri, 5.3 degrees in Dalhousie and 7.6 degrees in Dharamsala.
