5 men killed in mob fury in Maharashtra on suspicion of being child lifters

Five persons were killed by villagers in Dhule district in Maharashtra on Sunday on the suspicion of being child lifters, news agency PTI quoted police as saying.
According to PTI, when one of the five persons apparently tried speaking to a girl child, villagers who had gathered for the weekly Sunday market, attacked the group.
The police said that five persons were killed in the mob fury.
The incident was the fallout of the rumour doing rounds in the area that a gang of child lifters was active therein.
The police said that 15 people have been taken into custody in this regard.
The bodies have been shifted to rural hospital in Pimpalner and police teams were keeping a vigil in the area. People have also been asked not to believe in rumours.
