Raid in jails led to recovery of mobile phones, knives and….., this will shock you..!

Bengaluru | Prison authorities in Karnataka have recovered a large quantity of prohibited items during a special intensive drive conducted across jails and correctional facilities in the state. The operation was carried out over the last 36 hours and led to the seizure of mobile phones, SIM cards, knives and narcotic substances from several prisons.

According to officials, the highest number of communication devices was recovered from prisons in Mysuru and Bengaluru.

During a search operation at Bengaluru Central Jail, authorities seized six mobile phones and four knives. In Mysuru Jail, nine mobile phones and 11 SIM cards were recovered. In a similar operation at Belagavi Jail, officials seized four mobile phones along with 366 grams of ganja, which was reportedly thrown into the prison premises by external elements.

Additionally, four mobile phones were recovered from Mangaluru Jail, while one mobile phone was seized from Vijayapura Jail.

The details of the operation were shared by Karnataka Director General of Police (Prisons) Alok Kumar. In a post on social media platform X, Kumar said that the recoveries were made during a special drive conducted across multiple prisons over the past 36 hours.

He reiterated that the department remains committed to preventing the misuse of prisons for illegal activities and assured that such surprise inspections and enforcement drives will continue in the future to maintain security and discipline within jail premises.
