Six militants killed in J&K’s Shopian, one security personnel also dead

Six militants were gunned down by the security forces on Sunday in a gun battle that broke out in Jammu & Kashmir’s Shopian district. News agency ANI reported that encounter in Shopian has concluded and a total of six terrorists have been neutralised. Also one security personnel died in action, the agency reported further.

The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site.

The militants killed belonged to terror outfits Hizbul Mujahideen and the Lashkar-e-Taiba. The operation which started late on Saturday evening lasted on Sunday morning.

The Rashtriya Rifles, troops of special operations group (SOG) of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force brought down the terrorists in Batagund village following a tip off they received on Saturday evening.
