Maharashtra : Father arrested for allegedly raping daughter

A-16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her father over two years has been found to be pregnant. The shocking incident has been reported from Thane district of Maharashtra. While, the girl’s mother has passed away, she lives with her father and brother.
The Indian Express quoted police as saying that the elder brother of the girl came to know about the entire matter when she was found to be five-month pregnant.
The accused has been arrested by the police. “The girl’s brother noticed that she had frequent stomach aches following which he took her to hospital on Monday where her pregnany was confirmed. He came to us on Tuesday and we lodged a case”, a police officer was quoted as saying by the daily.
The girl’s father has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“The girl has told our women officers that her father had been sexually assaulting her for over two years. This started after her mother passed away in 2016. The accused had threatened her to keep mum otherwise he would throw her and her brother out of home”, the officer told The Indian Express.
