Five minor boys aged between 9 and 14 have been taken into custody by police and sent to juvenile correction home for allegedly gang-raping an eight year old girl in Dehradun. The shocking incident took place on July 12 (Thursday). The case came to light when the girl’s family lodged a complaint with police on Sunday. The boys and the girl live in the same locality.

The police in its probe have found that the boys had lured the girl with a chocolate to the house of one of the accused aged 10 whose parents were away on work. The boys committed the alleged crime two days after watching pornography on the mobile phone of the elder brother of one of the accused.

Hindustan Times quoted Sahaspur station house officer Narendra Rathore as saying that the accused belong to the families of labourers and are students of classes 6 and 9. “The girl is a student of class V and lives with her family. She was playing outside her home while her parents were away when the boys lured her”, Rathore was quoted as saying.

He said that while one of them guarded the house by remaining present outside, others raped the girl. When they saw the elder brother of the 10-year-old accused coming towards home, they asked the girl to go home, he added.

After the incident the traumatised girl stopped speaking and even started skiping meals. After much coaxing, the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother on Sunday and then the family lodged a complaint with the police.

Police have registered a rape case against five boys under POCSO Act, Times Of India quoted Rathore as saying.
