Attack on Odisha Minister’s brother: Injured driver dies
Bhubaneswar : One of the four persons who received injuries in the attack on Odisha Labour Minister Sushant Singh’s brother has died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Cuttack, police said on Saturday.
The deceased, Dileswar Sahu, was the driver of Subrat Singh, the elder brother of the Labour Minister. He succumbed to his injuries at SCB Medical College Hospital on Friday night.
Dileswar had sustained critical head injury along with Subrat and two others during an attack on their SUV by a group of miscreants in Banabira village under Sohela block of Bargarh district on February 22 night.
Three other injured persons are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Burla.
Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Saturday paid homage to the slain driver at the BJD state headquarters here.
“The attack on Subrat Singh and his associates is an extremely inhumane act. It has deeply shocked me. Such barbaric incidents would not be tolerated in a peaceful state like ours. Stringent action would be taken against the guilty,” he told reporters here.
Patnaik also consoled Sahu’s bereaved family members and announced that the ruling party would take care of all expenses of the kin of Sahu, including his children’s education.
